If you are leaving from Sassari, take SS 291 towards Alghero. After travelling c.10 km, turn right on SP 65 for Porto Ferro. After more or less 9 km, follow the sings and turn right on SP 42, and then after 3 km, turn left on SP 18 for Palmadura and Argentiera. After more or less 17 km, you will arrive at the mining burg of Argentiera and to the beach next to it.
Description
This beach is characterized by gray fine and coarse sand. The sea is transparent and azure and the sea-bottom is a mix of sand and rocks. It is made up of two small coves divided by a small wharf and a cliff. The northern one is the bigger of the two, and the southern one is called Cala Onanu. Behind it lies the washery of the old mining site. This spot has a special charm. The remains of the old mining burg, now part of the Geoparco Minerario della Sardegna (The Mining Geopark of Sardinia), lie between rocky promontories covered with Mediterranean maquis and face a sea spectacular for its colour.
