Cagliari's Dal Pittore restaurant has been included in the Michelin Guide.
The restaurant on Via De Magistris, just steps from the Teatro Massimo, has been included among the new entries in the prestigious guide's Italian section. The inspectors, who included it among their recommended restaurants, were won over by the creations of chef Renato Bacchetta, 79, originally from Casalvolone in the Novara area, who has been working in the kitchen since he was eleven.

"This result is a great joy and satisfaction. It repays us for all our hard work, passion, and sacrifice, and above all, it encourages us to continually improve in all areas, from the kitchen to the dining room," emphasizes Renato Bacchetta, who leads the team, which also includes Michele Rolesu in the kitchen, restaurant manager Imma Congiu in the dining room, and maître d' and sommelier Gabriele Rolesu.
A close-knit and highly professional staff.
Renato Bacchetta is no stranger to prestigious awards. His La Taverna del pittore in Arona, Piedmont, which he managed for forty years, has been awarded a Michelin star for 11 consecutive years. His cuisine is contemporary and draws on tradition with creative flair.
Among the options are burrata stracciatella, raw red prawns and red lumpfish “caviar”, risotto with white Alba truffle, plin stuffed with rabbit in butter, sage and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, spaghetti alla crudaiola, a delicious and refreshing seafood aroma, and flambéed crepes suzette prepared tableside.

A palette of flavors reminiscent of the sea, mountains, hills, countryside, and woods, the fruit of the labor of carefully selected small producers and of his over sixty years of multicultural experience in Italian, European, and overseas cuisines. Then he arrived in Sardinia.

“It's stimulating to promote its products,” he says with conviction. “For a chef, this island is a true paradise.”
From an early age, he worked his way up, from his first job as a milk delivery man at just 10 years old, to working at the "Bar Principe" in Borgomanero, to his years as an emigrant in Germany, and then Novara, Madrid, Arona, and Sardinia. Different latitudes and geographies, but a single mantra, a guiding light throughout his long professional career: "Work hard," says Renato Bacchetta, "and try to do everything to the best of your ability, out of respect for customers and for yourself."
