There will be 180 boats present this year at the third edition of the Sardinia Nautical Fair, scheduled from 1st to 5th May in Olbia, in the Porto Rotondo Marina.
The event, funded by the regional tourism department, is organized by Cipnes Gallura, with the patronage of the Municipality of Olbia, the Coast Guard, and Confindustria Nautica, and with the operational partnership of the Porto Rotondo Marina.
A total of 156 exhibitors will take part in the event, 140 of which will have a stand.
The first edition, in 2022, attracted over 15 attendees, and last year the figure reached nearly 18. This year, among other things, we're also celebrating Porto Rotondo's 60th anniversary. "The nautical one," explains the initiative's organizer, Angelo Colombo, "It's a sector that encompasses various fields, and we try to represent it as much as possible. New this year is the presence of the "Techno-Green" area, featuring innovative companies and startups, the San Raffaele research centers and the French Sophia Antipolis research center, the Universities of Cagliari, the Côte d'Azur, and Olbia, with the Faculty of Naval Engineering, a spin-off of the University of Cagliari.Last year, an area was set up dedicated to electric or hybrid boats and useful solutions for charging them, with charging stations on land. "This year," Colombo added, "We've decided to push the accelerator a little further in that direction, precisely because of the newly established Faculty of Naval Engineering here in Olbia and the existing contacts with research centers. The Fair's goal is to further promote nautical tourism.
In Olbia there are 4 or 5 main boat manufacturers, but there are also many other companies that deal with the resale of major national and international brands, which also offer after-sales assistance. The nautical industry is a supply chain that involves not only those who physically produce the boats in the shipyards, but also everything that is installed on board, from furnishings to systems, to ensure maximum comfort and, obviously, safety. As every year, within the Fair, we have also organised thematic meetings", underlined Angelo Colombo, "to stimulate the public's attention towards specific topics.".
The event organizer clarifies that the main concept of the fair remains faithful to the first edition and is based on three key elements: "There's a presence on Insula to promote the region, its culture, its traditions, and its food and wine and landscape values. We have boats that allow interested and passionate visitors to have direct contact with those who produce and sell them, with the opportunity to test them at sea. Then, there's the opportunity to meet the many personalities involved in the various segments and sectors during the talks."
To these three fundamental assets,” concludes Colombo, “we have added a fourth: attention to technological innovation, to reduce environmental impact and to monitor the environment .”
