From Orosei to Dorgali : the 21 kilometers separating the two largest towns of the Baronie are surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and imposing rocky ridges. This is the panorama that accompanies travelers to the Ispinigoli Cave, which contains the tallest stalactite in Europe: a 38-meter column connecting the base to the top of the structure. To reach the bottom, you must descend 280 steps that lead to the depths of the cave: a rare sight to behold. Twelve kilometers away, along the SS 125 and then the SP 38, lies the Nuragic village of Serra Orrios, one of the largest and best preserved in Sardinia, surrounded by ancient olive trees. Dating back to the 16th century BC, its remains, comprising six blocks of five to six huts arranged in a circle, two small temples, and a water well at the center, tell the mysterious daily life of the Nuragic people. Returning to the Orientale Sarda SS 125, after about 40 minutes south, we arrive near a true natural monument: the Su Gorroppu Gorge, which opens in all its magnificence in the heart of the Supramonte between imposing sheer limestone walls reaching 400 meters in height, a sort of European Grand Canyon.
