It would seem that the name of this gulf is derived from Golfo degli Arrangi, the name it was given by sailors who found a safe haven in these calm waters to repair (“arrange”) their boats. It could just be a legend but Golfo Aranci really does look like a place for peaceful meditation, far from the chaotic nightlife on the Costa Smeralda: the whitest beaches and coves, transparent waters and the ancient homes of fishermen.
Even the museums here can be visited in total tranquillity while free-diving or on board a submarine like the MuMart (Maritime Art Museum): contemporary art on the Third Beach at anywhere from four to seven metres under water. Every evening at 7:30 a mermaid appears on the White Beach to sing No potho reposare. Another legend? No, not this time.
