Itineray
This is an small island located opposite Villasimius which can be reached either by private means of transport or through the services offered by the touristic harbour of Villasimius. Leave the town southward, turn right onto Via del Mare and follow the signposts to the harbour, where you will arrive after about 3 km.
Description
The island owes its name to its shape, which resembles a snake with the head turned southward. In the proximity of the tail, in the northern part, you will find the so called Variglioni. Natural pools of breathtaking beauty form between these three granite rocks. The island is dominated by the tower ‘Torre di San Luigi’ which is nowadays uninhabited. For this reason, the island is characterised by an uncontaminated natural setting. It is easy to see schools of dolphins, when sailing around it. It is a part of the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara, due to the richness of its flora and fauna.
