Itineray
From Palau there are ferry boats that leave for the Isola La Maddalena (Maddalena Island) and dock to La Maddalena port. From there you can arrive to Cala Francese following two roads. On the first one continue for more or less 4,5 km towards south-east. Pass Punta Tedde and continue until you will arrive to a turn-off on the left for Cala Francese. The road starts asphalted and afterwards becomes unpaved, continue and you will arrive to a parking area. The second road starts from the northern part of the inhabited centre of La Maddalena. Proceed on the SP 114 for more or less 6 km until you will arrive to a turn-off on the right for Cala Francese.
Description
Cala Francese (French Cove) is a deep inlet in the granitic cliffs that characterize the whole area. You can admire the rests of the granite quarry and the Madonnetta Sanctuary. The landscape presents the typical cliffs of this area with bizarre shapes due to the erosion. Along this stretch of coast there are a number of small coves inserted in a context where the Mediterranean maquis grows blooming and the azure sea has a sea-bottom particularly interesting for snorkelling enthusiasts.
Car park.
