Description
Buggerru is a town of about 1200 inhabitants. It sits at the bottom of the inaccessible Canale Malfidano Valley overlooking the sea. The town was founded in the second half of the 1800s because of the flourishing mining activities of the area. Nowadays everything in Buggerru tells of the mining past of this small town. There are still the remains of an open-air laveria (used for cleaning minerals) and of a number of tunnels. Among them there is the so called Galleria Henry (Henry Gallery) which has recently been turned into a tourist attraction. It is an enchanting place, not yet invaded by mass tourism. The local cuisine offers dishes based on fish and on shellfish, among which the famous zuppa.
Being a small town whose economy is partly based on tourism, it offers every kind of facility.
