Itineray
From the harbour of Carloforte take the coast road which runs along the south-western coastline of the island and then goes up westward until it reaches La Caletta. Go past the salt pans located just outside the town, go on for about 5 km, and you will find on the left a signpost to the beach La Bobba, written upon a large rock positioned on the side of the road. Park the auto in an unpaved car park and continue on foot along a 300-metre path, located on the right side, that goes up the promontory and leads to Punta delle Colonne.
Description
Le Colonne are a true natural monument, symbol of the island of San Pietro. Located at the southern extremity of the island, these are two stacks of grey trachyte, 16 metres high, which formed from an ancient lava flow through water and wind erosion. The scenery is incredibly beautiful. Vertical grey cliffs plunge into a crystalline light blue sea. Through the transparent water, it is possible to admire a rocky multicoloured seabed. It is a panoramic point not to be missed.
