Itineray
From Iglesias take the SS 126 in the direction of Sant’Antioco. After about 11 km you will reach the junction to Nebida and Masua. Turn right onto the SP 83 and after about 3 km you will arrive at the junction to the beach of Fontanamare. Continue driving along the SP 83 for about 5 km of panoramic road and you will arrive in Nebida. Continuing along the SP 83 through the town, you will get to a point where the road widens: there is a café on the right and the turning to Porto Banda on the left. From there a steep road leads to the car park of the beach.
Description
Porto Banda is a small cove made up of pebbles, lapped by a crystalline sea of a light blue colour. The rocky seabed is home to a large variety of fish and is therefore suitable for snorkelling enthusiasts. The scenery is characterized by an incredible variety of rock formations with different geologic properties: from the nearby conglomerates of a burgundy colour to the extremely white limestone rocks that, in the northern part, form cliffs of an incredible beauty. In the middle of the sea stand five big stacks: Scoglio il Morto, Scoglio of Portu Nebida – which is also known as the ‘sailing vessel’ for its shape that resembles this kind of ship – the two stacks of S’Agusteri in front of the beach of Porto Banda and finally, a little further away, the famous and imposing Pan di Zucchero.
Car park.
