Itineray
From Orosei drive along the SS 125 towards Siniscola. Shortly after leaving the village, go past the Cedrino River and turn right. Driving along the northern side of the river, you will get in the proximity of the mouth of the river after about 2 km. The road joins, at that point, another one coming from the SS 125 and running towards the coast to the beach of Fuile’e Mara, a bit further north. Going on for about 1 km you will see on the right a number of dirt tracks going through a thick pinewood and leading to the beach of Santa Maria.
Description
This beach is characterized by middle-grained ochre sand and is much frequented by scuba diving enthusiasts on account of the deep waters and mixed sea-bottom. It stretches from the basaltic promontory of Punta Nera – called this way because of its dark colour – to the mouth of the Cedrino River. In the proximity of it, stands the medieval church of Santa Maria’e Mare, built by Pisan traders around the 1200s. The thick pinewood, the dark rocks of the promontory, and the mouth of the river create a wild and uncontaminated natural setting, embracing the beach.
Car park.
