Sant’Antioco, the largest island of Sardinia

Located on the southwest coast, the island of Sant’Antioco, the largest in Sardinia, is a combination of history and beauty. It is connected to the mainland by a modern bridge built near the Roman one.

The town on the island of the same name rises on Sulki, probably one of the oldest Phoenician ports in the Mediterranean. The Archaeological Museum of Ferrucio Barreca preserves and exhibits a collection of extraordinary pieces related to the Phoenician-Punic culture and is located a few steps from the sacred area of the tofet.

On the north side of the island stands the white Calasetta, a village founded in the eighteenth century that smells of sea and sky, surrounded by beaches and enchanting coves, where the absolute blue and essential geometries of the inhabited nucleo reflect in the amazing collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art MACC, the cultural heart of this country with its temporary exhibitions and events of national and international importance.
