Itineray
From Calasetta take Via Sotto Torre which runs parallel to the coast south-westward, in the direction of the beaches Le Saline and Spiaggia Grande. Go past them, and after about 1.5 km you will find on the right a dirt road which leads to La Tonnara and, running along the coastline, to the Scogliera Mangiabarche (Boat eater cliff).
From Sant’Antioco take the SP 126dir to Calasetta. From there, take Via Sotto Torre and follow the signposts to the beaches.
Description
The Scogliera Mangiabarche forms the northern extremity of a rocky and wild stretch of the west coast which, after Punta Maggiore, turns into a sandy one with the large beaches of Calasetta. It owes its name to the particular shape of its surfacing rocks, a danger to the boats. It is the ideal place for those who enjoy lying in the sun on the rocks and swimming in light blue waters over a rocky seabed.
