Itineray
From Oristano head north in the direction of Cuglieri. After about 1km, you will reach the junction located near the Madonna del Rimedio sanctuary. Turn left onto the SP 1 in the direction of Marina di Torre Grande and Tharros. After about 2 km, turn right following the signposts to Tharros and San Giovanni di Sinis, where you will arrive after about 16 km. When you reach the town, follow the signposts to the Spanish tower.
Description
The Spanish tower of San Giovanni Sinis dominates the entire peninsula of Capo San Marco and the archaeological site of Tharros. It is the biggest and most complex of the 5 coastal towers of the territory of Cabras that had been built to guard the coast against the frequent pirate raids. The tower of San Giovanni Sinis was built at the end of the 1500s and restored in the 1990s. It has a truncated cone shape and is between 6 and 8 metres tall.
